  Festival of Speed (FOS) 2004: Goodwood Estate, West Sussex  

    25th., 26th. & 27th. June 2004

We proved last year that attending two days was not sufficient.

More time was required, so, making the most of our GRRC membership, we booked for the full three days. Including a little "Kinrara Enclosure" pampering!

F R I D A Y
"We need to be here. The Kinrara Enclosure"				Found it! A quiet corner of the estate, conveniently located by the track!
		The Red Arrows were in attendance...	...aaaaaaaaaaaah!	I felt at one with my World!
What follows are a number of cars travelling "up the hill". Incorrect shutter speed enables me to offer the slightly blurred finish to the photographs!				...and another!
				Unfortunately this can "bonded Heavily" with a hay bale on Sunday!
Sarah's weapon of choice!	More sun, time for coffee. Superb latte actually	"Pretty in Pink"	Perfect location. Free from crowds, endless supply of Pimm's, views of Goodwood House and the circuit!	The sun continued to shine!	Myles & Emily arrived
So we found a spot...	...and drunk more Pimm's!		A quick look at the quietly understated Rolls Royce		Personally I feel it needs a larger front grille!

	Kinrara was deserted!	The sun slowly setting, the first day drawing to a close...		"Look at what you could have won..."	US Muscle
Back to the car, we were one of the last to leave...	...but we still hit the departing traffic! This was our view for about 40 minutes!	Myles agreed to share knowledge of his "hidden public house". A fantastic 15th Century building, complete with front spoiler removing inclines!	Superb summer evening, perfect for fillet steak, Al Fresco!		Back at the hotel, as a result of late arrival we secured a great spot by the bins! (Slightly past the "No Access" point)
S A T U R D A Y
Day 2. The weather forecast was not superb and indeed they were right. A very overcast start...			Lack of natural light causing even more shutter speed issues!
				D B 9	The rain was still holding off though
				Despite light drizzle, we took our chances and walked to the top of the hill.
Just in time for the start of the "Soapbox Challenge" Kindly sponsored by:			Great miniature Le Mans Bentley
				Red trousers were optional...	...this shade of red proved more popular! Some Italian company I am told, quite successful in F1.
Time for a little walk around the paddock...			Just fantastic!
					The clouds continued to look ominous...
Then the heavens really opened. We made a hasty retreat to Kinrara, making the most of the covered grandstand.			The wet track was causing some traction issues...perhaps driving would have been easy if he had stayed in the car!?
South African Airways arrived having dropped their passengers at Heathrow. Performing an excellent display with their 747.	Not at all what I expected. Better pictures (a little), when they returned on Sunday.
The levels of standing water were obvious.		Coming down the hill after exiting the paddock			Racing complete, time for Tapas and Cocktails....
S U N D A Y
With a cocktail induced fuzzy head we arrived for Day III. The weather forecast and cloud formation considerably more favourable!	The perfect enhancement to improve the acceleration of your Citroen Saxo!		The cloud started to break!	Back again to Kinrara
South African Airways were back! Flying at a little above "stall speed" for maximum manoeuvrability (170 mph).				Certainly not ideal if you had passengers onboard!	Coming back for one last fly past...
Superb!
				We met with Andy & Sue, whom we had not seen since earlier in the year! Any excuse to celebrate: 1st bottle of Veuve for the day!
Rolls Royce display was simply fantastic.		...as were there collection of cars!		Ready for prize giving later that day...	Simple elegance
		Unimpressed with the "Flying Lady". Sir will find that with suitable financial inducement any special requirements can be fulfilled!
		John Lennon's automotive abortion. You would have to be on drugs...
RR's concept car. They maintain it will never go into production. It look fabulous (IMO). The rear section takes it's styling cues from Riva.	Ultimate living.	Cartier had put a fantastic collection of cars together.

		S L R I'd still rather the Porsche GT		Subject to having a spare  320,000 pounds that is!
				CLEAR sky. Perfect Goodwood weather. Does life really get better than this?
	Only A1 celebrities need apply: "The Dunhill Drivers Club"	Like Damon Hill for example. (Damon is not the fat chap on the right hand side!)		Our host for the day was mid interview as we returned to the enclosure. Some heathen behind us asked "Who is the old geezer in the race suit". How do these people get in?	Time to meet Andy & Sue again...
...bottle 2	...bottle 3!	Life started to make great sense!	Unfortunately it was time to leave, indeed everyone else had departed already! Only our table remained!		Sauntering back to the car...
Goodwood course car!		Greg & Sarah's course car!	Some delightful people had stolen our dust caps during the course of the day...	...perhaps will sell them on e-bay to supplement their housing benefit? Or perhaps to buy lottery tickets.	Poor Andy & Sue had their entire car stolen...last seen climbing into a private jet. How the other half live!
